Media Release
Lowe Alpine has launched an online sales website that partners with retailers to share profits and consumer information. Research is showing growth in online sales approaching 10% of total sales (EMarketer 01/2006) by 2008. This is a significant percentage of consumers choosing this way to shop. To date Lowe Alpine has directed consumers through its website dealer locator to brick and mortar and online retailers. Starting in January 2007, it will begin to offer consumers the option to also purchase directly from Lowe Alpine.
10% of sales on line are significant, but 90% through traditional channels is still where the bulk of consumers are shopping and Lowe Alpine wanted to address this potential distribution conflict. Partnering with MWRC, we have found a way to work with retailers to address the online consumer.
Consumers researching product at the Lowe Alpine website will continue to be directed to brick and mortar and online retailers, but will also have the option to “Buy Now”. In order to purchase product through this option they will need to choose a service dealer among the three closest retailers to the consumer. The chosen retailer will then receive a 25% margin on the purchase for simply being chosen by the consumer. They will receive a credit note on their next statement and any consumer information that we can share with them.
Lowe Alpine also benefits by gaining direct valuable consumer information and buying patterns that it can share with its retail distribution. Lowe Alpine retailers benefit from all sales with the easiest margin they will ever get, consumer information and they are able to “carry” the entire Lowe Alpine line without any inventory risk. Revenue without any associated costs is a rare situation for retailers, but the basis for the Lowe Alpine Online partnership.
